Supreme oboist?

U.S. 7th Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Diane P. Wood, one of the names being touted as a successor to retiring Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens, plays the oboe.

The Los Angeles Times' Meghan Daum, a onetime practitioner of the instrument, notes that an orchestra's principal oboist plays the A to which the rest of the musicians tune their instruments, making oboists "about the most judgmental people on the face of the Earth. . . .
