Benefitting whom?


A March 21 concert at Carnegie Hall, featuring pianist Lang Lang, conductor Christoph Eschenbach and the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra, staged as benefit for victims of the Haiti earthquake, would bring in just $8,000 more from ticket-buyers than it pays out in production and marketing expenses – and that's assuming it sells out. UPDATE: The Times' Kate Taylor reports that $100,000 was raised; but it appears that the charitable proceeds did not come from ticket sales:
