Half-sisters Katharina Wagner and Eva Wagner-Pasquier will succeed their father, Wolfgang, at the helm of the Bayreuth Festival, turning back a bid (or foiling a coup?) by Wolfgang's niece, Nike Wagner, and Gerard Mortier, incoming general director of the New York City Opera.
